Design and Build

The Huawei P30 Lite is a mid-range smartphone that looks chic and has a plastic frame covered in glass on the back. It is 7.4mm thick and weighs 159g. The phone was available in three colors: Peacock Blue, Midnight Black, and Pearl White. Its 6.15-inch screen with a waterdrop notch looked very modern. A fingerprint sensor on the back allows fast unlocking, however, it does not have water resistance. Although its sophisticated design impresses users, it is not as robust as the Huawei P30 Pro, the P30 Lite is still light and comfortable to hold.

Display

The Huawei P30 Lite is equipped with a 6.15-inch IPS LCD panel of 2312 x 1080 resolution that generates 415 PPI for detailed and colorful images. It is bright enough (~500 nits) to handle streaming or social media comfortably. The device has a 60Hz refresh rate, which is standard, and it cannot compete with the OLED displays of models like the P30 Pro. Users are happy with its bright screen for the daily entertainment.

Performance and Software

The Kirin 710 (octa-core, 2.2GHz, 12nm) forces most processors on the smartphone race to the sidelines with blazing performance and low power consumption. With the Huawei P30 Lite, 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage options are on offer, the last two are expandable via microSD. The device runs Android 9 with EMUI 9.1 (upgradable to EMUI 10). It will cope with multitasking and casual gaming better than the P10 Lite. Geekbench 5 scores are estimated at ~350 (Single-Core) and ~1400 (Multi-Core).

Pricing and Availability

At the time of March 2019, the Huawei P30 Lite sold for about $300 for the 4GB/128GB model, was the most common choice, and was available on the Huawei website as well as through various retailers around the world. In 2021, it was officially discontinued, and now, the range of prices for the refurbished options is between $100 and $180, positioning this smartphone as a stylish and capable mid-range option for those who do not care about 5G connectivity.
