Design and Build

The iPhone 13 Pro comes in a chic, rugged construction that includes a surgical-grade stainless steel chassis, a Ceramic Shield front, and a texturised matte glass back that is resistant to fingerprints. The device is 5.78 x 2.82 x 0.30 inches (146.7 x 71.5 x 7.65 mm) in dimensions and weighs 7.19 ounces (204g), which is slimmer and lighter than the Pro Max, so it does not incur extra burden on people who want it. The 13 Pro can be bought in any of five attractive colours - Graphite, Gold, Silver, Sierra Blue, and Alpine Green, among which only a 20% less big notch of the iPhone 12 contributes to the larger screen. An upgraded version will use the Lightning port as a connector and will support both nano-SIM and eSIM cards, both physically, while in some places, dual eSIM will be available.

iPhone 13 Pro Display

The iPhone 13 Pro brings to the user a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED screen with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels, which provides a high PPI (460). This screen size, combined with the small notch, enlarges the visual experience, while it is ProMotion-ready and variable in the refresh rate of 10Hz-120Hz to enable smoother scrolling and animations as required. The phone achieves up to 1000 nits of brightness under normal circumstances, and 1200 nits for the HDR mode, which is fine for outdoor use, but it is not rated for the Always-On-Display feature of the latest models.

Performance and Software

The Apple A15 Bionic chip architecture, produced using a 5nm process, is what dominates the iPhone 13 Pro, offering excellent results through a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. The model, equipped with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, can be used for multitasking, playing games, and successfully dealing with a series of computational images. With price tags starting at 128GB ($999), 256GB ($1099), 512GB ($1299), and 1TB ($1499), the 13 Pro is quite appealing. It comes with iOS 15, which you can later upgrade to iOS 18, but it does not have Dynamic Island or Always-On Display functions because their introduction on the iPhone 14 series has caused hardware constraints.

Camera System

The iPhone 13 Pro is furnished with a three-camera system: a 12MP Main (f/1.5, 26mm, sensor-shift OIS), a 12MP Ultra Wide (f/1.8, 13mm, 120° FOV), and a 12MP 3x Telephoto (f/2.8, 77mm). The sizeable nature of the main sensor and the ultra-wide camera's better aperture pushes the low light performance, and the latter is a 3x telephoto optical zoom. The 12MP front camera (f/2.2) not only clicks pictures but also enables Face ID. With 4K Dolby Vision at 60 fps, Cinematic Mode (1080p 30 fps), and ProRes video (4K 30 fps for 256GB+ models), the video could be of best quality. The True Tone flash feature is a boon for photo clicking in low light.

Battery and Charging

The iPhone 13 Pro comes with a 3095mAh battery, allowing the gadget to be on up to 22 hours of non-stop video watching. However, tests based on real-world usage showed that the device could go only around 16-18 hours on mixed use. With the available fast chargers, you can get 50% battery life by just plugging in the 20W charging cable in 30 minutes or going wireless with the 15W MagSafe or the 7.5W Qi standard. The Lightning cable is the only thing included, no charger. The all-day battery life is fantastic but somewhat less than the Pro Max's, which is obvious, as it comes with a smaller capacity. Still, it performs better than the majority of the 2021 models.

Connectivity

The Qualcomm X60 5G modem of iPhone 13 allows the device to access Sub-6 GHz and mmWave 5G (U.S. only) networks and ensure the maintenance of fast download speed in the best network environment. It also uses Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0. Users are provided with a choice between physical nano-SIM with eSIM and dual eSIM(API Dependent also). The U1 ultra-wideband chip in the iPhone 13 Pro enables Precision Finding, an Apple Find My feature to locate lost AirTags with ease. The iPhone 13 Pro is not featured with a satellite connection that supports Emergency SOS, different from the newer models. The GPS feature is backed by multiple systems (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou).

Pricing and Availability

The iPhone 13 Pro, which had a 128GB version for a list price of $999, also offered other versions such as 256GB at $1099, 512GB at $1299, and 1TB at $1499. The pre-order process began on September 17, 2021, with the sales date at September 24, 2021, that same year through Apple, AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, as well as Best Buy. The iPhone was officially terminated in its manufacturing in September 2022 as the iPhone 14 Pro was launched, but there is a possibility of limited stock remaining in retail stores or even through the refurbished market.
