Design and Build

The iPhone 16 Pro has a lightweight, premium-grade 5 titanium body. The front of the phone has a ceramic shield, which is two times tougher than the glass used in other smartphones. Moreover, the back has matte glass, which prevents fingerprints from smudging the surface. Sophisticated elegance is offered by the four heavily anodized titanium finishes: Desert titanium, Black Titanium, White Titanium, and Natural Titanium. Furthermore, it is water and dust resistant for 30 minutes up to 6 meters due to an IP68 rating. The phone introduces a new camera control button for quick access and adjustments, and an action button that replaces the mute switch.

The iPhone 16e has its predecessor's Super Retina XDR OLED Display upgraded to 6.1 inches while the iPhone SE had 4.7 inch LCD panel. Enhanced visually with vivid colors, sharp granularity through 2532 x 1170 pixel resolution at 460 PPI and clarity for HDR10 and Dolby Vision content, the display also featured the notch for Face ID. It does not come with Dynamic Island as seen on the iPhone 16 and still offers 800 nits typical and 1200 peak brightness, lowering the chance of being washed out by bright conditions, and at 60Hz refresh rate the display seems outdated next to cheaper Android counterparts, boasting 90Hz +

Performance and Software

Shifting to components, it now has the A18 chip which was previously featured on iPhone 16 but with a downgraded 4 core GPU. Regardless, it gives flagship level performance for tasks with apps, Apple Intelligence, and gaming. That’s powered by 6 core CPU with 2 performance and 4 efficiency cores, yielding up to 80% improved on the iPhone 11’s A13 Bionic. iPhone 16e also features Neural Engine Fitted AI functionalities alongside 16 cores and 8GB of RAM vs 4GB on iPhone SE. Couple those with 128, 256, and 512GB of on-board storage and the ability to multitask is made simple even for demanding tasks like AAA-gaming. With the iPhone 16e getting IOS update 18.3.1 (upgradable to IOS 18.4) at launch, it will provide 5 years of update support.
