Create and Construct

With a glass rear and aerospace-grade aluminum frame, the iPhone 8 resembles a luxury device when placed side by side with the iPhone 7. Samsung used durable glass that resists fingerprints, making the phone measure 5.45 x 2.65 x 0.29 inches (138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm) and weighing 5.22 ounces (148g), meaning it’s slightly heavier but tougher than the iPhone 7. Choose from Space Gray, Silver, or Gold for the iPhone 8’s simple and elegant design. To offer something familiar, it uses the Home button and Touch ID, but has a more standard display than its cutting-edge siblings.

  • Aerospace-grade aluminum frame
  • Glass front and back
  • IP67 water and dust resistance
  • Home button with Touch ID
  • Lightning port for charging and data
  • Physical SIM card slot

It uses wireless charging to cut costs on materials, placing glass on the back for Qi compatibility at the lower 7.5W speed, however, some features including Face ID and a modern full-screen display are not included. This button allows you to use your tablet much like you did your smartphone, and it also works with various accessories, such as third-party covers for extra features.

iPhone 8 Display

The iPhone 8 presents a 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD display having 1334 x 750 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 326 PPI. Even though it is outdone by the 5.5-inch iPhone 8 Plus, yet it shows off bright and vivid images and is also True Tone-compatible for the unchanged color feature. Having a maximum brightness of 625 nits, the screen works fine in every light, but it still has a normal refresh rate of 60Hz, the same as other devices at the same period, while it does not have HDR support like that in the more recent models.

  • 4.7-inch Retina HD LCD
  • 1334 x 750 resolution
  • True Tone technology
  • 625 nits (typical)
  • 60Hz refresh rate

The monitor is great for casual activities, such as searching the Internet and the viewing of various media, however, the 60Hz refresh rate and the free extra space on the screen may make it seem old-fashioned compared to the new smartphones with high refresh rates and OLED panels. The monitor's evident clarity and substantial color accuracy are the main things that the reviewers speak highly of, the only problem being the design full of aspect.

Software and Processor

Featuring the A11 Bionic chip, the iPhone 8 can give a huge overall performance boost compared to the A10 Fusion found in the iPhone 7, while it has a 6-core CPU (composed of 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores), as well as a 3-core GPU. It is also 70% faster than the A10 when it comes to CPU tasks and has AR (augmented reality) capabilities. The price is of 2GB RAM and either 64GB or 256GB of storage, the iPhone 8 can multitask and play games without a hitch. The device has 2GB of RAM and is available in two storage options, 64GB, or 256GB, which makes it quite capable of multitasking and gaming at the same time. The iPhone 8 also comes with iOS 11, which can be upgraded to iOS 16 and at least minimum of 5 years of jolly along, after its launch in 2017.

  • A11 Bionic chip
  • 2GB RAM
  • Storage: 64GB, 256GB
  • iOS 11 (upgradable to iOS 16)
Test iPhone 8 Score
Geekbench 4 (Single-Core) 4,200
Geekbench 4 (Multi-Core) 10,000
3DMark Slingshot Extreme 3,000

The A11 Bionic processor will provide great performance for the most part, but having 2GB of RAM may narrow multitasking capabilities in comparison with the latest models. A few users have noticed a bit of a lag of the software on iOS 16, but the iPhone 8 can still be used on a daily basis without any problems.

Camera System

Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus include a 12MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). On the iPhone 8, 4K video is captured at 60fps, and 1080p slo-mo is recorded at 240fps Because it doesn’t feature dual cameras like the iPhone 8 Plus, it can zoom in digitally only up to 5x. Besides being good for selfies, the 7MP front camera also records video in 1080p quality and makes use of Retina Flash. There’s a new Portrait mode in software and a much better camera in low-light settings.

  • Rear: 12MP, f/1.8, OIS
  • Front: 7MP, f/2.2
  • Video: 4K at 60fps, 1080p at 240fps slo-mo
  • Modes: Portrait, Panorama
Camera Specifications
Rear Main 12MP, f/1.8, OIS, 5x digital zoom
Front 7MP, f/2.2, 1080p
Video 4K 60fps, 1080p 240fps slo-mo
Features Portrait mode, Panorama, HDR

Although the camera results are clear and of high quality, the lack of a second lens reduces how much you can do with the Xperia. Night photography is strong, but it isn’t as impressive as the latest iPhones.

Battery Specifications

The iPhone 8 includes a 1,821mAh battery, which lets you watch videos for 14 hours. It can be charged with up to 15W (50% in 30 minutes when you use a compatible adapter) wirelessly or with 7.5W Qi wireless power. Tests reveal that the A11 makes the phone last about 10 hours, longer than the battery life of the iPhone 7.

  • 1,821mAh battery
  • Up to 14 hours video playback
  • 15W wired charging
  • 7.5W Qi wireless charging
