The iPhone XR offers a modern design with an aluminum frame and glass back, making it both stylish and durable. It's comfortable to hold and use, and it comes in a variety of vibrant colors including Black, White, Blue, Yellow, Coral, and (PRODUCT)RED. Despite having a single rear camera, it captures high-quality photos, and the notch enables the secure Face ID unlock system.

To reduce costs, the iPhone XR doesn’t have two cameras on the back and uses an LCD screen instead of an OLED one. It supports 7.5W wireless charging using a Qi pad, but it doesn’t have MagSafe support. The removal of the home button means it fits in with how newer iPhones are set up.

iPhone XR Display

It comes with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD LCD display, delivering 1792 x 828 pixel resolution at 326 PPI. The colors are vivid like OLED, and the screen is True Tone compatible. The TrueDepth camera for Face ID is found in the notch. It gives good visibility in most places since it has a brightness of 625 nits, however, it doesn’t support HDR and refreshes at a normal speed (60Hz).

While the screen is great, daily use uncovers that the lower resolution and less-smooth refresh rate show up compared to OLED displays. Even though the notch is still in use, it looks old when compared to newer models.

Software and Processor

An A12 Bionic chip with six CPU cores (two high-power ones and four efficient ones) and four GPU cores powers the iPhone XR. 3GB of RAM and storage space of 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB mean it handles both multitasking and gaming with ease. The latest iOS 12 is on board, and the device can receive updates for a long time. Having 50% more processing power than the A11, the A12 makes iPhones perform well.

Even though the A12 Bionic performs well and is very efficient, a few users mention small bugs in iOS 12, which are usually sorted out by updates.

Camera System

One 12MP wide camera (with f/1.8 and 26mm) equipped with OIS, makes up the main camera on the iPhone XR, allowing for Portrait mode through software. One can take Portrait selfies and unlock the phone using Face ID thanks to the 7MP TrueDepth front camera. You can shoot videos in 4K at 60fps and 1080p in slow motion at 240fps. Nilton only has day mode, so photos are not as bright in dark places.

While the camera does well in bright light, having only one lens makes it less flexible than if it had two lenses. Wide Angle Portrait was as effective as I expected for the price.

Battery Specifications

The phone’s 2,942mAh battery supports 25 hours of phone calls or up to 15 hours of time spent connected to the internet. Users report that the phone can last up to 12-14 hours with mixed usage. It allows wired 15W charging and 7.5W wireless charging with Qi protocol. Efficiency is better on the A12 Bionic thanks to it outperforming all previous models.

Connectivity

The iPhone XR runs on 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), and Bluetooth 5.0. One SIM card, eSIM support, and NFC for Apple Pay are all included in this battery life. You can get accurate location information from GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. It lacks 5G and ultra-wideband.
