With a vegan leather back and metal frame, the Huawei Mate 70 Pro Plus, which is a flagship phone of the current generation, is 8.3mm thick and weighs 230g. It comes in colors Nebula White and Ink Black and has a 6.85-inch display which is stylish and luxurious. Besides the in-display fingerprint sensor, it is also IP68 water/dust resistant, making it as elegant as the Pura 70 Ultra.

Display

The Mate 70 Pro Plus is equipped with a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1280. It provides 468 PPI and a 120Hz refresh rate. With the brightness of 2600 and HDR10+ support, it can be used for gaming and streaming. The glass utilized by Kunlun, which also protects the screen of the phone, is brighter and more vivid than the screen of the Mate 60 Pro+.

Performance and Software

Powered by the Kirin 9100 (octa-core, ~2.5GHz, 6nm), the Mate 70 Pro Plus offers 16GB RAM and 512GB/1TB storage. Running HarmonyOS 4.3, it delivers unmatched performance for gaming and multitasking, surpassing the Mate 60 Pro+. Geekbench 5 scores are ~1100 (Single-Core) and ~4200 (Multi-Core). It lacks Google Play Store, using Huawei’s AppGallery.

Pricing and Availability

At the price of $1500 for the 16GB/512GB model, the Mate 70 Pro Plus was introduced in October 2024 and it is available in China as well as at some other locations. The newly sold ones at prices $1100 to $1300 are still the best choice 5G phones for those who are die-hard tech fans, but the high price and the non-availability of Google services might limit their global appeal.
