The Oppo Reno8 Pro was first released in July 2022 and it is a premium glass phone (Corning Gorilla Glass 5) with an aluminum frame that has a smooth, streamlined unibody design. With dimensions of 6.34 x 2.91 x 0.30 inches (161.2 x 74.2 x 7.6 mm) and a weight of 6.46 ounces (183g), it is very thin and lightweight. It comes in Glazed Green and Glazed Black and besides the in-display fingerprint sensor that is included, the punch-hole display is also there. Since it doesn’t have an official IP rating, it is not very resistant to water.

The Reno8 Pro has no wireless charging feature in order to keep it thin. The high-quality construction of the device has been appreciated, however, the lack of water resistance and a back that gets easily smudged are the two main issues that were highlighted.
The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen provides a resolution of 1080 x 2412 (394 PPI) and a 120Hz refresh rate which makes the visuals more fluid. It is HDR10+ compatible and it can emit 500 nits typical and 950 nits peak brightness which is enough for it to be clearly visible. It is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 that protects the screen from scratches.
The display is perfect for media and gaming but it does not have an Always-On Display. The vibrant colors were noted by reviewers, however, they also pointed out the punch-hole camera's minor intrusion.
The Reno8 Pro is driven by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100-Max chip which has an 8-core CPU (4x Cortex-A78 at 2.85 GHz, 4x Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz) and a Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. It also has a 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which allows it to reach flagship-level performance. ColorOS 12.1 running on Android 12 guarantees 2 years of OS updates.
Test | Oppo Reno8 Pro Score |
---|---|
Geekbench 5 (Single-Core) | ~900 |
Geekbench 5 (Multi-Core) | ~3,200 |
GFXBench Manhattan 3.1 | ~60 fps |
3DMark Wild Life | ~5,000 |
The chipset is responsible for gaming and multitasking which it does with no problems at all. However, ColorOS bloatware is a small issue.
The triple rear camera is composed of a 50MP primary (f/1.8, PDAF, Sony IMX766), 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2, 112° FOV), and 2MP macro (f/2.4). The 32MP front camera (f/2.4) is capable of 1080p recording. Among the features are 4K Ultra Night Video and Portrait Mode.

The primary camera performs very well in dim conditions, however the ultra-wide and macro are only so-so. The MariSilicon X NPU is also a big help for night photography.
A 4500mAh battery is capable of 80W SUPERVOOC charging, which gets it to 50% in about 15 minutes. It can deliver around 18 hours of video playback or 14 hours of mixed usage.
