The new foldable design of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 allows users to have style and practicality in one smartphone. The device uses durable aluminum made for aerospace in its frame, with Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the cover and back and an improved folding design. Because the team worked to keep the Z Flip 4 affordable, it does not offer wireless power sharing or a dedicated telephoto lens, instead using digital zoom. Enjoying videos and multitasking is great on the display, but Samsung missed including an Always-On Display. Critics like the colorful screen, but feel that the cover display is no as practical as what is found on fresher models.

Software and Processor

Thanks to its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, the Z Flip 4 comes with strong processing power using an 8-core CPU and an Adreno 730 GPU. Performance-wise, it’s twice as fast as the Snapdragon 765G in previous mid-range devices. When equipped with 8GB of RAM and one of three storage sizes(128, 256 or 512GB) it processes demanding tasks without difficulty. Running this update, One UI 4.1.1 on Android 12 (upgradeable to Android 15), the device is guaranteed at least 4 years of updates. You can use Samsung DeX and enhance your photo editing and reply messages on the Galaxy A13 because it has a 12-core GPU.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and 5G modem ensure excellent efficiency, though some users report occasional thermal throttling during intensive tasks. AI features like Bixby Vision enhance productivity, but minor software bugs in Flex Mode have been noted.

Camera System

The main rear camera on the Z Flip 4 is 12MP, f/1.8, 24mm and supported by a 12MP ultra-wide camera, f/2.2, 123° field of view. You can zoom in digitally 2x which gives you good-quality 12MP images. Selfies and face recognition are handled by the 10MP front camera (f/2.4). With Single Take mode and Night Mode, the camera records in 4K at 60fps with HDR10+ support. You can use Flex Mode to video record without having to hold your phone.

Daytime shots and low-light pictures are the cameras’ strengths, yet there’s no telephoto lens for faraway objects. Reviewers find the Flex Mode useful, but think the ultra-wide lens isn’t ideal for capturing things in dim environments.

Battery Specifications

With its 3700mAh dual battery, the Z Flip 4 can show videos for up to 20 hours. In the real world, these phones manage 16 hours 45 minutes on a charge which is reasonable for a foldable. The phone can be charged at 25W wired speed (50 percentage gain in half an hour) or 15W wirelessly. Even though the chipset improves battery life, you may need to charge by night if you use your phone a lot.

Connectivity

The Z Flip 4 includes a Snapdragon X65 5G modem which makes for quick downloads and uploads. The phone doesn’t have mmWave technology, though it performs similarly to flagships in most markets. There is Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and support for two eSIMs available.

Pricing and Availability

To purchase the 128GB Z Flip 4, you’ll need to spend $999 for 128GB, 256GB costs $1059 and the 512GB model costs $1179. On August 26, 2022, the device went on sale with Samsung, significant carriers and retailers. Programs for trading in your device typically give you credits you can use toward a new one.
