The Vivo Y01 has made its debut in March 2022. The cell phone is a plastic body with a glossy finish which is an affordable option for customers who are still minded to have a good phone. It is 6.47 x 2.98 x 0.33 inches (164 x 75.7 x 8.3 mm) in size and weighs 6.28 ounces (178g). The phone is available in two colors: Sapphire Blue and Elegant Black. It is equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the side and a waterdrop notch. The device doesn't have an IP rating, thus no water or dust resistance are expected to be provided.

To save costs, the Y01 has not had wireless charging and has not used premium materials. The design of the Y01 is very basic, which is effective but the plastic surface is easily smudged by fingerprints. Users mention the light weight as one of the positive points but are not satisfied with the durability.
The display made of IPS LCD of 6.51 inches has HD+ resolution (720 x 1600) with 270 PPI and a refresh rate of 60Hz. It has brightness of around 400 nits which allows it to be used inside rooms but in the sunlight it struggles. It is not compatible with HDR and does not have any protective glass.
The display is quite simple for budget users, with a very limited color gamut and dim brightness. The 60Hz refresh rate seems old-fashioned compared to 90Hz budget rivals.
The MediaTek Helio P35 chipset is the one that powers the Y01 with an 8-core CPU (4x Cortex-A53 at 2.3 GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 at 1.8 GHz) and PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It comes with 2/3GB RAM and 32GB storage, which makes it perfect for basic tasks only. Funtouch 11.1 on Android 11 Go provides 1 year of OS update support.
Test | Vivo Y01 Score |
---|---|
Geekbench 5 (Single-Core) | ~170 |
Geekbench 5 (Multi-Core) | ~900 |
GFXBench Manhattan 3.1 | ~10 fps |
3DMark Wild Life | ~400 |
The performance is just barely enough for light apps and calls, but there was lag when multitasking. The software is not heavy, but it is not designed to last long through updates.
The 8MP rear camera (f/2.0) and the front one of 5MP (f/2.2) enable 1080p recording at 30fps. The features are, however, only basic Portrait Mode.
Camera | Specifications |
---|---|
Rear Main | 8MP, f/2.0 |
Front | 5MP, f/2.2 |
Video | 1080p at 30fps |
Features | Portrait Mode |
The camera is functional for daylight shots but poor in low light. It’s minimal for budget users.
The 5000mAh battery is compatible with 10W charging, which results in the battery being able to provide around 20 hours of video playback or approximately 15 hours of mixed use.
