The Vivo Y52 5G is a budget-friendly 5G phone with a plastic body that has a glossy finish and it was launched in May 2021. The device is 6.46 x 2.96 x 0.33 inches (164 x 75.3 x 8.5 mm) in size, weighs 6.81 ounces (193g) and has some extra bulk but still comfortable. Two colors, Graphite Black and Polar Blue, were on offer and the smartphone came with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a waterdrop notch. However, no IP rating means no water resistance.

The Y52 5G is a budget device that lacks wireless charging and uses non-premium materials. The design of the device is utilitarian and the plastic back is susceptible to scratches. The 5G capability is liked by users but they admit the device is heavy.

Vivo Y52 5G Display

The 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2408 (401 PPI) and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The brightness level of ~400 nits makes it okay for indoor use, but it faces some difficulties outside. It is not HDR compatible.

For the price, the screen provides decent resolution but its refresh rate of 60Hz and low brightness are quite restrictive. The display is good enough for casual use but not optimum for media.

Software and Processor

Y52 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, which features an 8-core CPU (2x Cortex-A76 at 2.2 GHz, 6x Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz) and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The device is equipped with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage, and it is capable of handling everyday tasks. The device runs Funtouch 11.1 based on Android 11 and comes with 1 year of OS updates.

Performance is good enough for everyday tasks, however games and multitasking can still have a delay. The software is easy to use but the update support is not extensive.

Camera System

The triple camera at the rear consists of a 48MP main (f/1.8, PDAF), 2MP macro (f/2.4) and 2MP depth (f/2.4). The 8MP (f/2.0) front camera is capable of recording 1080p videos. Night Mode and Portrait are available features.

The main camera is pretty okay in daylight, but the pictures taken in close-up and low-light are quite bad. It’s good enough for users on a budget.
